History of Grama Panchayat

Chakkittapara Grama Panchayat has a rich history shaped by agriculture, migration, social movements, education, and cultural development. The region was originally inhabited by tribal communities, particularly the Kurumar, who depended on agriculture and forest resources. It is believed that they placed a copper vessel (chakku) on a rock (para) for agricultural purposes. Over time, the place came to be known as “Chakku itta para”, which eventually evolved into Chakkittapara.
